According to Dallas Links, the Family Place in Dallas Community Receives Financial Support from Philanthropist James Dondero to Help Raise Remaining Legacy Campaign Balance.
The Family Place serves the Dallas, TX community providing shelter, counseling, mentoring, job training, and educational programs services to domestic violence victims. In the State of Texas, it’s one of the first family violence centers to offer solutions to help families, including men, women and children.
The center will be celebrating their 39th year advocating intervention and proactive prevention through effective educational programs. Philanthropist James Dondero, CEO and President of Highland Capital Management attended the 21st Annual Texas Trailblazer Awards Luncheon, in October 2016, to announce a $1 million challenge.
At the 20th Annual luncheon, in 2015, The Family Place announced their $13 million Capital Campaign to begin renovation and construction of the Ann Moody Place. This isn’t the only non-profit organization in the Dallas community Mr. Dondero is a financial supporter of to improve the quality of life for families, especially young children.
He and the Highland Capital Management team established, Highland Dallas Foundation, Inc. specifically for funding meaningful charities. The foundation is managing the $1 million challenge and encourage other donors to match the funds, until the beginning of April 2017.
Highland Dallas Foundation supports organizations in communities to provide services families are most deprived of, especially education. He is actively involved in the community helping to provide solutions for housing to the homeless, and domestic violence prevention and intervention. The Family Place’s Ann Moody Place is one of the latest financial contributions given by Mr. Dondero.
The funds received from James Dondero and other donors who participated in the Family Place Legacy Campaign will help to open the facility in the Spring of 2017. A ground-breaking ceremony was hosted in May 2016 for the Ann Moody Place. He works with important leaders in Dallas, Texas to discuss issues troubling communities. Domestic violence happens to be an increasing concern, along with poverty, education, and homelessness. Highland Capital Management has shown enormous concern providing solutions to its community for more than 50 years.
