Stephen Murray: A Man to Remember for All Times

It has been two months since the death of Stephen Murray, but it has still shaken many people to their core and hit them hard.  He, of course, was was a private equity investor and philanthropist.

While those are two very different things, they show what kind of human being that Stephen Murray was and why he is still remembered to this day and will be for quite some time.  As an investor, he was someone with great foresight on the future.

He knew what to expect before it would happen sometimes.  He had his pulse on private equity and knew when to invest.  This helped him help others.  He was a well-known philanthropist and it takes a special kind of person to do that.  These days, so many people are only interested in their own money and things they can buy with it.

They don’t even think of others or how they can help them, guide them, or be there for them.  That is not the case with Stephen.  He was always looking to help others as much as possible.  That, more than anything, is the legacy of Stephen for  me.

He was someone that was aware of others, cared about others, and wanted to do that all that he could to help them.  In addition to that, he was the president and chief executive officer of CCMP Capital, a private equity firm which helps with buyouts and growth equity transactions.  What this tells me is he that Stephen Murray is a versatile individual that is not afraid of any challenge that is put in front of him.  Nothing is too big or too small for him.

He can handle it all with flying colors and then some.  While others might say, why me?  He says bring it on, and I can handle this.  He was the kind of person that embraced change and embraced challenges.  He never shied away from them. Stephen still had a lot to accomplish and he was gone from us far too soon.  However, his legacy will remain forever, and that is something that no one can take away from him.  His accomplishments in both his career and in his life will remain forever. He was a rare, one-of-a-kind individual and someone we should always remember and cherish.  As the expression goes, people forget what you do, but they never forget how you make them feel.  Stephen made a lot of people feel very good.
